In 2022, Kos Island in Greece looked for promotional material to help launch the brand abroad and increase user engagement with digital channels. Taking advantage of the physical presence of visitors on the island, we searched for a concept, that bridges physical and digital experiences. We designed a series of cardboard picture-frames inviting visitors to stand in front of a landmark, frame the action, take a pic, and share online. To maximise visitor engagement, we picked picture-perfect spots of: Monuments, History, Food, and Wildlife, and designed typographic frames, that create an emotive connection between visitors and island landmarks, while educating them on local history, and customs. Using simple typography in bright colours, we typed the name of a landmark and removed the core, so that the physical landscape literally fills in the card and complements the typography. Kos frames were shared at Kos’s exhibition stand at the Berlin and Utrecht tourism fares, and at local hotels as giveaway gifts.
